ABOUT THE HINCKS-DELLCREST CENTRE

Based in Toronto, The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre is a non-profit, children’s mental health centre offering a comprehensive range of mental health services to infants, children, youth and their families. We are a leading-edge mental health organization, built on a foundation of excellent client service, professional education, and supporting research.

We Help: Each year, more than 8,000 children and families are helped through a variety of prevention, early intervention, outpatient, and residential treatment programs.  Tailored to each child's needs, treatment at The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre can involve psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, child and youth workers, and early childhood educators.

We Train and Educate: The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre - Gail Appel Institute is dedicated to helping develop the body of knowledge in the fields of child, youth, and family mental health.  We train more than 3,000 mental health and human services clinicians and managers each year, preparing them to become expert community practitioners and future leaders.

We Research and Evaluate: Our expert researchers regularly examine the causes of children’s mental health problems, while continuously improving services by testing and evaluating new treatment methods.  We continuously work to ensure that Hincks-Dellcrest Centre services are consistent with what has been demonstrated to be successful.

We Raise Awareness: The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre seeks to raise awareness of the prevalence and importance of children's metnal health issues in the community.  Mental health problems are common, and we believe that seeking help to prevent or overcome them is a sign of health and strength.  The stigma about mental illness must come to an end.

ABOUT RAISE A CHILD'S SMILE

Raise a Child’s Smile, The Hincks-Dellcrest Centre's annual fundraiser, is now in its 12th year. In 2009, the event was a tremendous success, with 250 guests raising most than $200,000. We are very proud that 80% of every dollar raised goes directly to our programs for infants, children, youth and their families.

The theme of Raise a Child’s Smile 2010 is “Passport to Happiness”. This promises to be a fabulous evening of delectable cuisine, wonderful entertainment, silent and live auctions, prize draws, and many marvellous moments.  We are pleased to once again welcome Ken Shaw of CTV News, as our Emcee.

Proceeds of Raise A Child’s Smile 2010 will support the development of innovative strategies in children's mental health, including prevention, early intervention, training, research, and treatment programs.
